Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need rugby experience?

Not at all! Many of our players had never touched a rugby ball before joining. We'll teach you the fundamentals, and you'll learn alongside other new players in a supportive environment.

What if I've played another sport?

Great! Athletes from soccer, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, CrossFit, softball, track, wrestling, football, and many other sports transition into rugby every year. Your athletic background is an advantage.

I'm not sure I'm in shape yet. Can I still join?

Absolutely. Rugby welcomes players of all fitness levels, body types, and athletic backgrounds. Our practices are designed to help you build strength, confidence, and fitness over time.

How old do I have to be?

Our club welcomes women ages 18 and older. Whether you're in college, early in your career, or looking for a new sport later in life, there's a place for you.

What equipment do I need?

Just bring athletic clothes, cleats or running shoes, and a water bottle. A mouthguard is recommended. If you're new, don't worry about buying rugby gear right away—we'll help you figure out what you need.

When and where do you practice?

Practices are typically held twice a week in San Diego. Once you submit an interest form, we'll send you the latest practice schedule, location, and everything you need for your first session.

Is rugby safe?

Player safety is our top priority. You'll learn proper tackling, contact, and gameplay techniques from experienced coaches, and every practice is designed to build skills progressively.

Which team is right for me?

Our D1 & 7s team competes at the highest level of club rugby, while our growing D2 program is focused on developing new and returning players. We'll help place you on the team that best fits your experience and goals.
